Tania & McKenna fall in the category of special needs girls. They came off the track extremely shy and scared. As time has gone by they have made huge improvements but will still require an understanding home(s). The perfect placement would be to find a home where they can go together since they find so much strength in each other's company. We highly recommend a fenced in yard. They are happiest enjoying a romp outside. They are creatures of habit and become affectionate and calm once the routine is established for them. Call us for more information.
Who We Are
Tailwind Greyhound Adoption Program is a non-profit, tax-exempt organization based in Canterbury, NH. Our mission is to find loving responsible homes for greyhounds who do not qualify or no longer qualify to race at the track. We serve all of Central New Hampshire but often work outside our normal area by referral.
We pride ourselves on the individual attention we give each ex-racer prior to adoption making sure each is fostered in a qualified home. This allows us to evaluate each hound to make the best fit between your home and your new family member.
Adopting a friend
Our adoption process begins with inviting you to meet some ex-racers and sitting down to discuss the needs of a greyhound and the type of pet you feel is most suited to your home. At the end of the interview we offer an application and some resources to continue your research. We follow up with a home visit, bringing a prospective pet, to answer any last minute questions and to allow you a closer one on one meeting with a candidate for adoption. Providing all parties are in agreement, we schedule a placement shortly thereafter.
